Veterans Team USA wrestler Michael Cain of Florida was 51 years old and wrestled at 130kg/286 lbs. in the 51-55 year old division.
He collapsed during his opening round match of the Veterans World Greco-Roman Championship held in Kouvola, Finland on September 5, 2009. Cain received immediate medical assistance, but those providing care could not revive him.

Age is certainly no match for Jim Schartner.
In fact, it seems the older Schartner gets, the bigger the challenge he is willing to take on.
This week, the latest adventure in the sport of wrestling for the 59-year coach at Middletown High School takes him to Kouvola, Finland, where he will compete in the Veterans Greco-Roman World Championships.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Tenth-year Navy wrestling coach Bruce Burnett and his staff have assembled one of the top recruiting classes not only on the East Coast, but on a national level as well. Navy’s Class of 2013, which features 18 young men who have captured a combined 20 state titles, is ranked 21st by D1CollegeWrestling.net. Additionally, Navy is one of four EIWA members who are listed among the rankings, joining defending EIWA champion Cornell (No. 10), Lehigh (No. 19) and Bucknell (No. 23).

St. Paul’s rising sophomore Eric Friedman won a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association championship and a Maryland State Independent Schools title during his freshman year at 103 pounds.
This summer, the Pikesville resident has broadened his horizons, in that he can now call himself an All-American after placing fifth at 112 in the freestyle division at the USA Wrestling Cadet National Championships in Fargo, N.D.
